UN peacekeeping operations will leave for Sierra-Leone next week

The second group of the 9th contingent participating in UN peacekeeping operations will leave for Sierra-Leone next week. This contingent has 50 servicemen of the Mongolian Armed Forces (MAF). Earlier, 100 Mongolian peacekeepers of the first group went to Sierra-Leone on February 11. The previous contingent having 125 servicemen returned home on February 14, the first day of first month of this year’s spring. 12 Uranium licenses to be cancelled

Parliament’s Standing Committee on Security and Foreign Policy asked the government to cancel 12 exploration’s licenses issued on uranium deposits in Bayandun, Gurvanzagal and Dashbalbar soums of Dornod Aimag.
Mineral Resources Authority had issued exploration and mining licenses on deposits whose reserves were already identified and were already being mined breaking of relevant clauses of the Minerals Law. ..... More>> |

Problems mount in dzud-stricken aimags

Relevant organizations reported that it is estimated to require Tgs 5.5 billion to dispose of the remains of dead livestock that perished due to dzud disaster. The first phase of elimination, decontamination and disinfection is planned to be conducted by March 20, 2010. The second phase will be completed in April.
