Ambassador meets with Director General Y. Amano

On 3 August Ambassador J. Enkhsaikhan met with IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano. The Ambassador up-dated the Director General on the results of parliamentary elections held in Mongolia as well as on some forthcoming events in the second half of the year. The two sides then discussed Mongolia-IAEA relations, especially implementation of bilateral technical cooperation projects, including Mongolia’s PMDS program and support of the technical expansion of the vaccine production and support local diagnostics production.

On 24 May Mongolia’s Ambassador to Austria J. Enkhsaikhan met at the Hofburg palace in Vienna with Rose Gottemoeller, U.S. Acting Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security. The sides exchanged views on the issues of Mongolia’s accession to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and how the Vienna Document on confidence- and security-building measures would apply to Mongolia. I would like to inform you, Mr. Chairman, and OSCE Permanent Council that on 13 January the President of Mongolia declared a moratorium on execution of the death penalty. This coincided with the 18th anniversary of the adoption of Mongolia’s democratic Constitution.
