A round table meeting titled "Mongolia, the USA and the World" was held on Tuesday 31 January in New York city, USA. It was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the United States. The meeting was organized jointly by the "Council on Foreign Relations", american NGO aimed to support information exchange and promote strategic studies and the Indo-Mongolia Society of New York. Mongolia has been ranked 100th on the press freedom index among the world’s countries. On February 1, the ranking for 2011/2012 was released by the Reporters without Borders (RWB) international NGO.According to the report, Mongolia’s rank went down against the previous year, followed by Gabon, Cyprus and Chad. The Mongolian parliament’s approval of a bill that aims to
scrap the death penalty is a vital step towards full abolition of the death penalty in Mongolia,Amnesty International said today.

On November 28, S.Bayartsogt, Minister of Finance, and Martin Sajdik, Ambassador of Austria to China signed an agreement on financial cooperation to be established between the governments of Mongolia and the Republic of Austria.In frames of the agreement, Austria’s government will grant a soft-loan of up to EUR 40 million to Mongolia for two years. On December 23, 2011 in Ulaaanbaatar Amb. J. Enkhsaikhan met with Foreign Minister G. Zandanshatar and on behalf of the Mongolian Embassy staff in Austria has presented an original painting depicting the Hofburg palace in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of modern Mongolian diplomatic service.
