Mongolians paying tributes to Marshall Jukov According to a Presidential decree dated April 12, 2010 instituting a National Day of Planting Tree, the first tree planting took place throughout Mongolia on May 15 with kindergartens, schools, public organizations, NGOs, politicians, international organizations joining in the national tree planting campaign. President Elbegdorj, L. Gansukh Minister of Environment and Tourism, D. Zorigt Minister for Energy and Minerals, Mr. Dorligjav former Head of the Office of the President, MP G. Bayarsaikhan, President’s advisors, Ch. Bat General Manager of Ulaanbaatar city, D. Ganbold Governor of Chingeltei district of the capital city and other officials planted trees in the garden of kindergarten #56 in the Chingeltei district.

Before planting the trees, President Elbegdorj met with the children and their parents, and teachers of the kindergarten which was followed by a short cultural performance of the children. The President and children then planted trees. Also the Office of the President presented the kindergarten with a set of toys for the children’s playground at the kindergarten.
President Elbegdorj also joined the school children planting trees in the garden of secondary school #17. In the course of planting trees, people who conducted effective activity in the environment conservation field, protecting forestry and publicizing publicly were awarded by the President. O. Altantsetseg, a citizen of Eroo soum of Selenge Aimag was awarded with Red Banner of Labor and J. Byatskhandaa, citizen of Songinkhairkhan District, J. Davaa, citizen of Gurvantes soum of Umnugobi Aimag, and B. Purevjav, citizen of Khan-Uul District were awarded with the Order of Polar Star and D. Nasanbat, citizen of Sukhbaatar District, was awarded with the Honorable Medal of Labor.
Prime Minister S. Batbold also attended the opening ceremony of 2010 activity of National Park and planted a tree. Also, Ulaanbaatar Mayor G. Monkhbayar, Ulaanbaatar citizens and press workers planted over 300 trees.
During the event, Prime Minister said, “We need to establish greeneries in order to ensure citizens live conveniently. Every citizen should make effort to do it. Along with constructing dozens of new buildings, we need to have many gardens and parks.”
The National Park is established in a 670 hectare area along the Tuul River in Bayanzurkh District.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister participated in an event to establish a mini garden in Sukhbaatar District, where Deputy Prime Minister N. Altankhuyag and a colleague of the Cabinet Secretariat of Government planted trees.
Having supported the President’s decree, MONTSAME National News Agency’s colleague planted 90 trees in the Garden of Dreams in Bayangol District, welcoming its forthcoming 90th anniversary to be marked next year. On that day, more than 700 people from about 500 organizations planted trees there.
The project ‘Garden of Dreams’ started last year and will last until 2012 and it is intended to plant a total of 500,000 trees in an experimental field of the garden. It was calculated that altogether 129,495 trees were planted throughout the country on May 15.
