Herders that lost animals to receive money

The cabinet allowed M. Enkhbold, Deputy Prime Minister and head of the State Emergency Commission, to provide dzud-hit aimags with automobiles and equipment for improving health and social welfare services and ensuring a state-ofreadiness for disasters as well as Tgs 300,000 to every herder family that lost all their animals due to the dzud disaster with non-refundable assistance worth Tgs3.4 billion provided by the Asian Development Bank.

Pursuant to the agreement with the Asian Development Bank, Tgs 2,572,800,000 (2 billion, 572 million, 800 thousand) will be disbursed to 8,576 herder families in Arkhangai, Bayan-Olgii, Bayankhongor, Gobi- Altai, Dornod, Dundgobi, Zavkhan, Ovorkhangai, Omnogobi, Tov, Uvs, Khovd and Khovsgol aimags.

Throughout the nation, 8.1 million livestock perished due to the dzud disaster and over 90 percent of that occurred in Ovorkhangai, Zavkhan, Gobi-Altai, Dundgobi, Khovd, Arkhangai, Bayankhongor, Bayan-Olgii, Uvs, Tov, Omnogobi and Khovsgol aimags. Because of the natural disaster, 8,576 households remained with no animals and 32,756 households lost over 50 percent of their animals. Consequently, over 1,400 households moved to aimag and soum centers.
