The Third Round of Talks for the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement to be established between Mongolia and the European Union (EU) ran successfully on May 14 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
Present at the talks were heads of diplomatic missions of EU members in Mongolia. The talks are chaired by B.Bolor, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Mongolia, and by F.Jessen, head of the Mongolian Affairs Section at the European Commission (EC).
Before starting the talks, the Deputy Foreign Minister and the head of the EC’s Mongolian Affairs Section shared views on the Mongolia-EU relations and cooperation. They underlined that the talks have significant contributions to creating a legal environment for all sectors of bilateral ties and collaboration and for enriching the further cooperation with new contents.
The partnership and cooperation talks have vital importance to cover all matters of relations and cooperation in the spheres of politics and socioeconomy, and to create a legal basis for expanding the cooperation in new sectors. It is also significant in bringing bilateral relations and cooperation to a new level and creating a legal environment.
The Talks of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Mongolia and the EU officially started in September of 2009 in Ulaanbaatar city. The first rounds of talks were held in January 2010 in Ulaanbaatar, the second one in March 2010 in Brussels, Belgium.

President Ts.Elbegdorj sent his greetings to the 5th International Conference of Justice Ministers titled “From Moratorium to Full Abolition: No Justice without Life” which kicked off on May 17 in Rome, Italy. His greetings were delivered by Ms. Sosormaa, advisor to the President on Human Rights and Civil Participation.
The conference was hosted by Sant Egidio International Organization to Abolish Capital Punishment. Speeches were given at the opening by Gianfranco Fini, President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, and by Giovanni Alemanno, Mayor of
Rome.
At the conference, the President of Sant Egidio M.Impagliazzo, who chaired the conference, noted with pride and congratulated Mongolia for its becoming the first country in 2010 to declare a moratorium on capital punishment.
Present at the conference were Ministers of Justice, Human Rights Commissioners, Prosecutors-General, Chiefs Justice and government officials from 34 countries.
