On May 27, a round table meeting on Mongolia was held in the HQ of the Bank of America, Merrill Lynch in Canberra city, Australia.

At the round table meeting, reports about Mongolia’s mining sector, mineral resources, opportunities to invest in the coal sector, and the legal and tax environment were introduced to banking and financial organizations that are interested in investing in Mongolia. Ts. Jambaldor, Mongolia’s Ambassador to Australia, introduced participants to the estimated reserve of Mongolian mineral resources, strategic mineral deposits, resources of the Tavan Tolgoi deposit and other deposits. Also, the infrastructure development, tax on mineral resources, law on foreign investments, political and economic environment and related state decisions.

The Ambassador made the announcement for a forum entitled ‘Investment in Mongolian Mining’ scheduled to run from June 21 to 22, in Sydney, Australia, and invited participants to attend this forum.

Directors of the largest companies participated in the meeting by hotline from Ulaanbaatar and Hong Kong. Heads of Australian companies gave information about the progress of their mining projects being realized in Mongolia and expressed their satisfaction with the environment in Mongolia for foreign investments.
