Mongolia is expected to chair the Community of Democracies in 2011-2013

From July 2-4, 2010, a conference commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Community of Democracies (CoD) took place in Krakow, Poland. The event, organized by the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland with the Permanent Secretariat of the Community of Democracies, hosted over 100 democracy and human rights activists, representatives of non-governmental organizations, international and national press in addition to ministers and ambassadors from over 70 democratic countries from around the world, including US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Foreign Minister of Sweden Carl Bildt, President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek, Foreign Minister of Indonesia Raden Natalegawa and many others. Also in attendance were former heads of state as special guests, NGO participants, young diplomats, parliamentarians and one of the CoD's founders, former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

At the conference Mongolia was represented by the H.E. Mr. G. Zandanshatar, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade. During the conference the Minister met with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Audronius Azubalis, of Canada Lawrence Cannon, with Bronislaw Mishtal, Executive Director of CoD’s Permenant Secretariat and other officials. Since 2005 Mongolia is member of the convening group of the CoD. It is expected that Mongolia would chair the CoD in 2011-2013.
