A Mongolian-German round-table discussion on “Cooperation in Energy, Construction, Infrastructure and Investment Opportunities” was held in Berlin, Germany on 6 October. It was organized within the framework of the week’s event of Asia and the Pacific “Partners for Joint Future”, which is hosted in Berlin once every two years. Nearly eighty representatives from German governments, press, professional associations and enterprises attended the Mongolian day.
The event was opened by the Mongolian national folk song and dance ensemble, “Egshiglen” and by a welcoming speech by Dr. B.Pfaffenbach, State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economy and Technology of Germany. Mongolia’s Vice Foreign Minister B.Bolor, State Secretary of Road, Transport Ministry J. Bat-Erdene and other officials presented reports on current economic developments in Mongolia, on Mongolian-German relations, investment climate and on opportunities of cooperation in road, transport and urban planning.
German experts the participated in the event dwelt on the issues related to future cooperation in agriculture and the mining sector of Mongolia. They underlined that Mongolia’s copper and coal reserves could be a source of the country’s rapid economic growth. In his closing speech, Mongolian Ambassador to Germany T.Galbaatar proposed that both sides focus on intensifying joint works in minerals, mining and infrastructure sectors that could increase ten fold the trade turnover between the two countries.
