Minister of Education, Culture and Science Yo.Otgonbayar received 40 ger-kindergartens and schools from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The dwellings, costing over MNT 180 million, are equipped with furniture, toys and other accessories.

In the gift gers, children will gain pre-school education in 19 soums of ten zud-affected aimags such as Bayan-Olgii, Uvs, Khovd, Dornod and Sukhbaatar, and in the city's Khan-Uul, Songinokhairkhan, Bayanzurkh, Chingeltei and Baganuur districts. With the support of the UNICEF, 70 ger kindergartens had been erected in 2003 that annually provide education to 2,500-3,000 children.
