P. Ochirbat (the Former President of Mongolia) and President of Blue Banner, a Mongolian NGO for NWFZ, on October 10, 2009 sent the following statement to U.S. President Barak Obama, in connection with his being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

“In welcoming the Nobel Committee’s decision to award this year’s Nobel Peace Prize to U.S. President Barack Obama, Blue Banner takes this opportunity to congratulate him on receiving this distinguished award and honor. The Committee’s is decision is welcomed as it recognizes President Obama’s efforts and supports his policy objectives to change the international relations environment and dynamics so as to better address common challenges such as: promoting
a nuclear-weapons-free world; finding and equitable and lasting solution to the Middle East dispute; and reversing the effects of climate change. Although
Blue Banner agrees that these and other common challenges cannot be addressed successfully by a single individual or State, active involvement
and leadership by the U.S. is needed to address them.
As pointed out by President Obama when he was in Prague, the goal of a nuclear-weapons-free world may not be achieved during his lifetime, but Blue Banner hereby expresses its hope that, with world-wide support and efforts, major irreversible steps towards a world without nuclear weapons will be taken during his Presidency. In this regard, he has the overwhelming support of all peaceloving peoples as embodied by the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to him by the Nobel Committee.”
