The Prime Minister S.Batbold received Tuesday Mr. Yukiya Amano, the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The Premier has underlined that the government of Mongolia is paying a special attention to the projects co-implemented by Mongolia and the IAEA in the health, agriculture and mining spheres in accordance with a cooperation program signed in December of 2009.
The Premier has thanked the IAEA for choosing Mongolia as a model country to implement an activity program on treating tumors, and has expressed a hope that Mongolia will fully realize this program within 4-5 years.
When discussing a vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease and its prevention, the Premier requested Mr. Amano to supply Mongolia with vaccines and to assist in building a diagnosis laboratory.


In response, Mr. Amano has expressed his satisfaction with a successful development of the IAEA-Mongolia collaboration and has promised to pay attention to combating and preventing highly infectious diseases of livestock.
He has said the IAEA is ready to give technical assistance to Mongolia in erecting the laboratory adding that the IAEA will send a group of experts soon to work out a technical-economic justification for establishing an atomic power station here.
Mr. Amano has emphasized an importance of refining a legal environment for developing the nuclear energy sector and asked Mongolia to join a multi-lateral treaty on this matter.
He has pointed out that Mongolia has become an exemplary country in Asia in combating cancer.
