The World Bank is hosting the second Mongolia Economic Policy Conference on October 29, 2009 at the Cultural Palace with registration due by October 26. Hopes are high for lively discussions and debates on some of the most important and pressing issues facing the Mongolian economy and the conference aims to engage well-known policy makers from within and outside of Mongolia to find ways to address the country’s development challenges.

The conference will focus on the vulnerability in the banking system and public finances, exposed as a result of the ongoing economic crisis.
Presenters and panelists include the Regional Governor of the Bank of Mongolia, Coordinator of International Finance at the Chilean Ministry of Finance, senior experts from the IMF and Netherlands Ministry of Finance, members of parliament, representatives from external partners, private sector, civil society and academia.
