Kh.Tsagaanbaatar–twice World Sambo Champion

Judo wrestler Kh.Tsagaanbaatar, a Hero of Mongolia, merited sportsman, Athens Olympic Games’ bronze medalist, 2009 World Champion, and twice Asian Continent Champion, has won the gold metal at the recent World Sambo Tournament at Salonika in Greece from November 5 to 8, 2009.

More than 300 athletes from 35 countries competed at this Tournament where Kh.Tsagaanbaatar (68 kg) defeated his Khazahstani opponent, thereby hoisting Mongolia’s national flag high in Greece.

This was his second brilliant victory after the World Sambo Championships and he has brought four gold medals to his country during 2009. His first gold was for winning at the World Judo Wrestling Championships held at Rotterdam in Holland from August 26 to 30, his second gold was gained at the US Open Judo Wrestling Tournament and on his return home he was given the Hero of Mongolia title. Kh.Tsagaanbaatar also defeated all his opponents in the 75 kg category to become the 2009 US Champion. The Chinggis Khan Cup was presented to him when he fought in the 66 kg category at the Chinggis Khaan World Cup Tournament held in Ulaanbaatar from October 31 to November 1.
