On August 25, the Foreign Ministry of Mongolia issued the following official statement regarding Libya’s transition to a democratic government.

On account of unbending courage and patience of Libyans who have been untiringly struggling for many months for their freedom, human rights,and democracy, Libya has entered a new phase.

A historical moment to act responsibly to preserve national unity, to reconstruct the country,and to start a process of transition towards establishment of democratic state has come before the Libyans and the National Transitional Council.

Respecting the aspirations of the people of Libya, Mongolia recognizes the National Transitional Council as a legitimate representative of the Libyan people and expresses its full support for the transition towards the new Libya respectful of democracy, justice, and human rights.
