On November 17, the 2nd meeting of the Governing Council of the Community of Democracies (CD) was held in Washington DC,USA.As Mongolia has been chairing the CD since July 1, 2011, the meeting was opened by Kh.Bekhbat, Ambassador of Mongolia to the USA, and chaired by S.Badral, Ambassador responsible for the CD and representing the Mongolian Government.
The meeting brought together participants of all of 25 member countries of the Governing Council and some decisions were made. For example, they set up an executive committee with the composition of eight countries; Mongolia,Lithuania, Salvador, USA, Republic of Korea,Sweden, Poland and Nigeria. At the meeting, proposals were accepted by the Czech Republic to recall its name from the Governing Council for specific reasons, and by Costa Rica to join as a member.
After the meeting, S.Badral visited the Carnegie Fund for International Peace and participated in a hearing on activities of the CD,future goals, gave information on measures and Mongolia’s approach to state organizations and research institutes in the USA.
