A round table meeting titled "Mongolia, the USA and the World" was held on Tuesday 31 January in New York city, USA. It was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the United States. The meeting was organized jointly by the "Council on Foreign Relations", american NGO aimed to support information exchange and promote strategic studies and the Indo-Mongolia Society of New York. The first part of the meeting was chaired by Mr. Kh.Bekhbat, Mongolia’s Ambassador to the USA. Mr. Jonathan Addleton, U.S Ambassador to Mongolia presented a report on "Political and economic developments in Mongolia and the Mongolia-US relations".
The second part was chaired by US Ambassador W. Lord. Ambassadors Kh.Bekhbat, Dr. J.Enkhsaikhan, Mongolia’s Ambassador to Austria Ambassador and Alphonse F.LaPorta, former US Ambassador to Mongolia shared their views on issues related to Mongolia’s foreign policy, including its relations with the US, Russia, China, the DPRK and some other countries. Also the panelists talked about Mongolia’s third neighbor policy and the measures taken to promote Mongolia’s nuclear weapon-free status. The meeting was attended by around 90 people, including representatives of governmental organizations, NGOs based in NY, strategic studies organizations, as well as representatives of some third countries and of the business community.
