European-Mongolian investors’ forum

December 3, 2009, EBRD Headquarter, London, United Kingdom

Being initiated by the Government of Mongolia and conducted by the Foreign Investment and Foreign Trade Agency in cooperation with European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, and Mongolia’s Embassy in the UK, with sponsorship by Mongolia’s Trade and Development Bank, this Forum is to illustrate Mongolia’s investment and business opportunities for European investors.

The Mongolian Government has attached great importance to establish and strengthen a favorable investment and business environment by maintaining mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation efforts with other countries and economies.

Forum participants’ attention is to be drawn to: Mongolia’s and its Government’s current economic situation and action being taken to overcome the economic downturn in general; foreign investments; capital market developments; and mining, energy, and infrastructural issues are to be broadly discussed during separate Forum meetings.


The Forum is to bring together high officials, international experts and advisors, foreign investors, entrepreneurs and professionals to exchange views and ideas on development challenges, as well as on investment and cooperation opportunities. Moreover, the Mongolian Government’s investment seeking projects and private enterprises are to be introduced for European markets.

Mr. Dashdorj Zorigt, Mongolia’s Mineral Resources and Energy Minister, is to give the Forum’s opening address and distinguished speakers and panelists are to present their views and ideas. The Forum’s prominent speakers and panelists are to include:

  • Mr. R. Amarjargal, a Member of Mongolia’s Parliament;
  • H.E. Bulgaa Altangerel,Mongolia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in the UK;
  • Mr. Jan Willem van den Wall-Bake, Director at the EBRD’s Netherlands- Constituency Office in Mongolia;
  • Mr. Masaru Honma, EBRD’s Director for Central Asia and Mongolia;
  • Dr. B. Ganzorig, Chairman at Mongolia’s Foreign Investment and Foreign Trade Agency;
  • Dr. Toshi Sakatsume, EBRD’s Principal Economist in Mongolia;
  • Mr. Bold, J.P Morgan’s Vice-President in Mongolia;
  • Mrs. Aza Ulziitogtokh, EBRD’s Banker and Coordinator in Mongolia;
  • Mr. Kevin Bortz, EBRD’s and Natural Resources Team Director in Mongolia;
  • Mr. Andrew Harding, Rio Tinto’s Group Executive Director in charge of Business Support and Operations;
  • Mr. Ganbat, Mongolia’s Road, Transportation and Urban Development Minister’s Advisor;
  • Mr. Otgonbat Sedbazar, Mongolia’s Mineral Resources and Energy Minister’s Advisor;
  • Mr. Randolph Koppa, the Trade and Development Bank’s President.

The most prominent multi-national enterprises and key players in the banking, financial, mining, eological, consultation, publishing, international trade, insurance, legal services and dozens of other sectors of Europe’s economy from more than 20 countries have indicated their interest to attend this promising event on December 3.

The organizers are confident that this ‘European-Mongolian Investors Forum’ will bring business and
investment relations between Europe and Mongolia to a new and exciting level.
