On March 9, a National Forum on the state’s
concept for civil society development was held at
the State House. The National Forum was unique
in that representatives of the government and civil
societies held a meeting in a wide range to jointly
develop important concepts.
More than 500 representatives of civil
societies from Ulaanbaatar and 21 aimags along
with state-owned and international organizations
participated to deliberate the draft of the state
concept on development of civil society. The
concept will be discussed by government and
approved by parliament to make an official state
document.
Prime Minister S. Batbold attended the
Forum and delivered a speech. He emphasized
that as the document is issued, it will contribute
to fulfill actions stated in the Constitution about developing civil democratic society in Mongolia.
It is the significance of the forum and a role of
society. He noted, “Government sees that citizens
want equal opportunity and the condition of
participation instead of equal distribution of
income and partners with civil society. It is not
only the present demand but also a criterion for
good governance.”
