Newly Appointed Prime Minister Takes Office
17 Augsut
On August 9, S.Batbold, the 26th Prime Minister of Mongolia, handed over the Government Stamp of Mongolia to N.Altankhuyag, the newly appointed 27th Prime Minister in the State Ger Palace.
Outgoing Prime Minister S.Batbold said, “We have successfully overcome the economic crisis and natural
disasters and saw economic indicators reach 17 percent. Also, the number of livestock has reached 50 million; we
produced 100 percent of the domestic supply of vegetables and potatoes, and launched actual economic reform.” He then wished the government to improve on such achievements.
The ceremony was attended by President Ts. Elbegdorj who
congratulated and wished success to new Prime Minister and his predecessor, S. Batbold.
“I would like to congratulate the newly elected Prime Minister of Mongolia N. Altankhuyag and wish great success in his future work. The people of Mongolia are awaiting great deeds from the Government. Forming the Cabinet of Ministers according to the rule of law is an important issue and the Prime Minister is obligated to hold discussions with the President. I would like to say that two issues need to be considered when forming the
Government.
“When forming the Cabinet of Ministers, you need to give attention to learning the current situation and determining the most important issues facing the country today. My position on the new Government structure has not changed. In order to separate the law-making function and the
executive function of authorities, it is important to make sure that a member of the Parliament is not appointed
as a member of the Government. There are a number of issues facing the State and people. I hope that the new Cabinet will be skilled enough to address those issues and I wish you great success” said the President.
