President Ts. Elbegodorj has given an interview to the TIME magazine correspondents Katmerka Kurtovic and Gregory Sorokours. During the interview the President touched upon moratorium on the death penalty, policy and activities against corruption, civil participation and the environment.
"As a democratic anchor of the East, Mongolia pursues consolidation of democracy, the rule of law, human rights and freedoms. Mongolia is unwaveringly committed to its choice. The worst enemy on this path is corruption. Therefore, combating corruption, strengthening our judiciary and rule of law is of utmost importance for Mongolia," said the President.
He noted the challenges and difficulties that the country is facing in the light of the ambitious development goals. "The challenges that we are facing have taught us lesson, lead to think differently, to change our mindset, to become innovative. Therefore, we rise to the challenges to resolve them and not to yield," he stressed.
