Regular cabinet meeting held on February 3 approved the "Education" national program in implementation of the parliamentary resolution regarding the National Development Strategy (NDS) adopted in January of 2008.

Goals of the NDS includes developing further the public education sector and raising the national educational system to world standards. The program includes enhancing a network of various pre-school organizations, preparing curriculum for preparing six-year-old children for school, transferring into the 12-year educational system, reforming primary and secondary education standards, improving the training quality in accordance with social needs and international standards in way of introducing internationally recognized standards and curriculum.

Other important actions include intensify training-research combination in vocational and higher schools, establishing student campuses at universities and institutes, establishing a research university, adopting a new system of educational quality evaluation, adopting a law on legal status of universities, etc.

These measures are to be realized in two phases--between 2010-2015 and between 2016-2021, and will be financed from the state budget, foreign donations, loans and assistance.
