Mongolia’s total territory experienced harsh wintering and herdsmen and citizens of most aimags have become very tired. Relief campaigns for herdsmen are taking place everywhere along with foreign countries who are extending helping hands.

First deputy PM N. Altankhukyag greets RZD rail official
Russian Railways (RZD) sent a train to Mongolia carrying humanitarian aid worth around 15 million rubles. On February 2, 2010, the train arrived at Ulaanbaatar station.
The special 34-carriage RZD train includes wagons containing fuel and lubricant materials, medicine, warm clothes, and other essentials. The train also brought straw and hay for livestock. The train was met by Mongolia’s First Deputy Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag, along with representatives of RZD, the Russian Embassy in Mongolia, Ts. Amgalanbayar, head of National Emergency Management Agency, officials of Ulaanbaatar Railway and others.

The special train of aid was brought by RZD’s, President and spokesman, A.M.Burataeva. Mongolia’s First Deputy Prime Minister N. Altankhuyag said, “Mongolia works together with the Russian people and have had friendly relations from ancient times, assisting and supporting each other during periods of war and peace. We are very happy with the Russians’ extending their helping hands in this present, difficult time, as an expression of traditional relations.”
With this aid, 38 varieties of medicines, pharmaceuticals and astringents, 247 kinds of warm clothes, 350 tonne of hay and fodder and 118 tonne of fuel and lubricant materials were sent. NEMA head Ts. Amgalanbayar was asked to intensify deliveries of aid to the aimags experiencing harsh winter along with giving aid.
