An international scientific conference themed ‘Combating Slavery in Modern Times: National, Regional and International Experiences’ was organized on February 9-10, 2010 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It brought together members of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Asia’s partners for the OSCE, representatives of international organizations, the Ministries and their departments.
The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Bolor gave an opening speech. Speeches were also given by N.Batsaikhan, head of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court and Usen Suleimenov, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the OSCE. A Senior Adviser to the Office of the Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating the Trafficking of Human Beings, Dr. Vera Gracheva delivered a letter of the Special Representative and Coordinator on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.
The acting State Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Labor also gave a report ‘Governmental Measures of Mongolia to Combat Human Trafficking, Prospects’. A representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Justice delivered a report entitled ‘Situation of Human Trafficking in Mongolia, Challenges’. Other reports were delivered as well.
