Mongolian athletes have participated in Winter Olympic Games 11 times beginning with Innsbruck in 1964 in the categories of crosscountry skiing, biathlon, skating and short-track. Mongolia joined the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) during the 4th forum for the FEALAC Foreign Ministers' Meeting that was held January 16-17 in Tokyo, Japan. The FEALAC was established in 1999 with the main purpose promoting wider cooperation, mutual understanding and talks on political and economic issues among East Asian and Latin American countries.
