World Health Organization (WHO) spokesperson Gregory Hartl said that the first recipient countries for shipments of the H1N1 vaccines will be Azerbaijan and Mongolia

Hartl added that Mongolia will receive 100,000 doses, and Azerbaijan will receive 172,000 doses, that is the initial shipment of vaccines for two percent of their respective populations. Shipments will begin next week and in the first week of January. The third country receiving WHO donated vaccines will be Afghanistan- with an initial shipment of 500,000 dozes.

Parliament overrides presidential veto

Parliament considered impossible to accept the veto on entire 2010 State Budget by President Ts. Elbegdorj. When Parliament discussed the veto at its plenary meeting on December 17, 2009, 44 of 57 MPs (77.2 percent) attending the plenary meeting did not support the veto.
President vetoed the budget law on December 10 as he considered that MPs agreed to spend Tgs1 billion in each constituency and place the money in budget packages of general budget managers.

2010 Budget Law vetoed by President

President Ts. Elbegdorj has vetoed the law on the 2010 State Budget entirely. MPs budgeted to distribute Tgs1 billion to each constituency for a total of Tgs76 billion. After approval of the budget law, it was criticized by public. The President considered it illegal and made his resolution to veto the law on December 10, 2009.

Ivanhoe sets aggressive plan for Mongolia mine

Reuters reported that Ivanhoe Mines will spend USD 758 million in 2010 on its Oyu Tolgoi copper gold project in southern Mongolia and should have the USD 3.5 billion open pit component of the mine finished in 2012.
